Pre-Interlaced is the first part of the Interlaced Project. An experiment in combining improvised performance and virtual reality drawing into a live-streamed event in a shared virtual space. Using bespoke software, performer Ioannis Sidiropoulos’ movements were tracked in real-time as he performs under lockdown in Athens, Greece. These movements were then mapped into a virtual reality environment where visual artist Susannah Langley - in Melbourne - drew in response to them. Bridget Chappell’s score, performing in Mildura, provided the source material for Ioannis’ movement. Interlaced was produced with the support of the Experimental Collaborations Grant, funded by SSAF Grant Program and UMSU Southbank. Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, The University of Melbourne and also supported by the Centre for Projection Art, Australia.
